Came across this thought as I was reading Henry Blackaby’s book on Hearing God’s voice. He asked the simple yet poignant question,
Who is in charge of your church?
I realize that sometimes we may automatically default to saying our senior pastor, or pastor, or board of elders or deacons, etc.
But then if we really ponder about it, there should only be one answer.
Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:15, 16 NIV)
That kind of settles the question doesn’t it?
